Manufactured Gas Plants
Former manufactured gas plant (MGP) sites provided gas to many towns from the early 19th century to the late 20th century. The residues that resulted include coal tar as well as contaminated soil, sediment, and groundwater, which are still present today. CETCO offers cost-effective and innovative products that have successfully remediated former MGP sites for redevelopment.
Products to help the future.
Permeable Reactive Barrier
Utilization of CETCO ORGANOCLAY as a Permeable Reactive Barrier (PRB) is an effective way to control the source of contamination by treating groundwater as it flows through it.
In Situ Soldification/Stabilization
CETCO ORGANOCLAY is an effective way to attract and hold organic compounds found in contaminated groundwater and sediment. Moreover, ORGANOCLAY is an effective stabilization agent that allows Portland cement to cure properly.
A REACTIVE CORE MAT is a patented permeable composite mat consisting of reactive material(s) encapsulated in a non-woven core matrix bound between two geotextiles. The upper geotextile is a needle-punched, non-woven fabric that is heat-laminated to a matrix of nonwoven fibers needle-punched into a woven geotextile. Through its innovative processing, REACTIVE CORE MAT can combine two active materials, if required.
Vapor intrusion mitigation
Sometimes, former MGP brownfield sites have residual contaminants after proper in situ and/or ex situ remediation efforts are taken.
